Jasper, Georgia is nestled in North Georgia and is labeled as the "First Mountain City". There is lots to see here, but you may not expect one of the most recent additions- Escape and Evade Adventure Zone! Now local residents can get their adventure on locally instead of having to drive further out.
Founded by two brothers (one is the business and one the artistic/technology developer)- the owners are local to Pickens County and have used their creative genius to bring a Family Fun Zone to the area. Escape and Evade has one of the largest laser tag arenas in the South. It has multiple rooms and you can play for just $10 for a 20 minute session. If you want more time playing laser tag, come over on a Wednesday or Thursday and play all the laser tag and VR (virtual reality) you want for $24.95. The Virtual Reality Simulator (two free roam ones) lets you stimulate your senses. Free roam means you are not viewing a screen, but rather, interacting and immersed in a 3D world.
We experienced one of the 3 escape rooms. Each of the rooms is designed for a hour long experience (varies depending on speed of solving puzzles) and one is based on traditional puzzle solving, one on more cerebral resolution, and one (coming soon) based on technology conundrums. We had a blast doing one of these with our family of four. Now, before we entered, our daughters, ages 10 and 13, made us promise not to "solve too fast" so they did not get a chance. Sometimes when we play trivia we inadvertently take the fun out of it for them, so we promised to take our time. Little did we know, but our youngest daughter kept figuring out the most challenging clues much more quickly than we did - so there was really no need for us to "slow down" at all. It was a challenge because you don't know what kinds of clues you will find and it really takes thinking outside of the box to figure the escape rooms out. Yes, we did finally get out and it was a lot of fun for a family night out!
Another unique feature was the Rage Room. The owners state that this has been one of their most popular attractions. It really is what you think- a room where you can get your frustration and anger out in a safe environment. Break some glasses or appliances and get your day's frustrations out. You can also get your gaming on in the arcade area and you can fill up at the concession stand afterwards.
Be sure to check out this local business and if you have a party coming up and don't want to do the work, have it at Escape and Evade in a private or semi private party room. Just pick you package and they will do the work.
