Did you grow up with Sesame Street? Cookie Monster was teaching your letters, Big Bird was explaining everyday concepts, and Bert and Ernie were singing their comical songs. I can remember sitting in the library with my classroom friends huddled around the television and learning our ABCs. My kids, however, we lucky enough to have had the same characters and educational value, but the wonderful additions of Tickle Me Elmo and Abby Cadabby.
Atlanta venues at Infinite Energy Arena and Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre recently transformed their stages to welcome the iconic Sesame Street characters on November 9th-11th and November 16th -18th. Audience members go to go on an amazing journey with Elmo to discover the “power of yet” in Sesame Street Live! Make Your Magic. In this show Elmo was inspired to learn a magic trick when he met magician extraordinaire Justin, who had come to Sesame Street to perform a magic show. But there was one problem…Elmo didn't know how to do magic! Through Justin’s encouragement to practice, work hard and never give up, Elmo embarked on an extraordinary journey. He learned that it’s okay to make mistakes and that magic can be found anywhere when you believe in yourself and the power of what’s yet to be. Cookie Monster and Gonger uncovered the science and fun of baking while Abby Cadabby experienced the transformative abilities of caterpillars. Big Bird learned about the magnifying magic of shadow puppetry while Rosita orchestrated a rhythmic beat using everyday objects around her. Grover even mixed up the pigment power of the three primary colors.
High energy dance numbers and the everyday life lessons we have come to expect from Sesame Street made this one fantastic family adventure. A look around the audience showed the delighted faces of little ones finally seeing some of their favorite characters come off the screen into their own environment. Elmo always mesmerizes children with his laughter and authentic interactions. Whats even better- this show has adults engaged as well! This is one of the few shows that adults and children alike can pull from their memories (recent and no so recent) to take a trip to Sesame Street!
