Healthyville Comes To The Children's Museum of Atlanta

By Lynne Westbrook, Publisher Macaroni Kid Blue Ridge January 30, 2018

The Children's Museum of Atlanta has a new exhibit called "Healthyville" open now through May 28th!  We know that, as parents, we can talk with our kids all day long about healthy eating and how to fill their plate with nutrients and heart-healthy ingredients, but as kids, the concept does not always resonate.  This exhibit is a wonderful learning module for kids because it gives a hands-on experience that includes imaginative visuals and games.  My girls loved the teeth exhibit - imagine a huge set of chompers and extra large tooth brushes!  They even got to floss the giant teeth.  Of course, we teach flossing and brushing at home, but when your child can see each type- from molar to incisor in larger-than-life detail, the routine task becomes exciting.

Healthyville is a place for everybody! This bilingual (English/Spanish), interactive exhibit teaches health and wellness lessons through play-filled activities and educational messages that foster learning by doing. Designed primarily for children ages 5 – 12 and their parents, caregivers and teachers, Healthyville provides visitors with hands-on opportunities to explore health topics in ways that help them understand their bodies, the importance of making healthy choices and how to apply these concepts in everyday situations. Healthyville features engaging content about how the body works and the effects of our positive or negative health choices.   Your kids will love the Good Foods Market and Cafe,  Nutrition Balance game and learning center, Healthyville Park (where they can bike and row), and Nutrition Balance Center (complete with a giant nose, nose hair, and yes- boogers, guaranteed to catch your child's attention).
