Ronald McDonald House: A Home Away From Home

By Lynne Westbrook February 9, 2017

We all know the image that Ronald McDonald evokes and most have heard about the Ronald McDonald House, but I did not know about all the wonderful things they do for families in Georgia (and elsewhere).   There are two Ronald McDonald House(s) in Atlanta and we were able to see the one near Scottish Rite up close.  This house was rebuilt in 2015 and has helped thousands of families have a "home" away from home so they can be close to their ill or injured child receiving medical care.

We were honored to tour the facility and share some love and support by helping to create valentines for the children and families who utilize the Ronald McDonald House.  What a great place!!  On the second and third floor there is an inside tree house with an illuminated tree at night time.  What is amazing is how much they have created an atmosphere that really feels like a home.  There is even a game room, craft room, and cozy kitchen atmosphere for families.

The Ronald McDonald House wants to help reduce some of the stress and financial burden associated with pediatric medical care and provide some peace of mind to families by knowing that the hospital and their child is closeby.  The value of these services can not be measured in dollars, but only in smiles and happiness.  Thank you Ronald McDonald House!!
