A Letter from Your Publisher: Where to Send Letters to Santa

Macaroni Kid Blue Ridge: North Georgia Focus

By Lynne Westbrook December 1, 2016
It’s that time of year again! Kids across the country are writing their letters to Santa. Wondering what to do with your child’s letter? Here are some local suggestions from Macaroni Kid Blue Ridge to add to the wonder and enjoyment of the season.

Make a Donation

Macy’s, at Town Center (Kennesaw), North Pointe (Alpharetta) and Mall of Georgia (Buford) have a special letter writing table just for Santa's letters. Your child can write their letter, and then place it in the Macy’s big red letterbox. Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-a-Wish Foundation for each letter received.  There is also an online form that can be emailed to Santa on their website, macys.com/believe.

Email Santa

Yes, we live in a time of technology so for many that may mean that an electronic letter from Santa fits the bill!  You can email
Santa for free HERE.  I tried this one out- while you give your email -you can opt out of any future emails.  You get back a letter from Santa in real time that you can then print out.  It is long and personalized!  If you child is with you they can watch time clock pass as Santa "receives email", "reads email", and then "responds" to your child.  You can email Santa or receive a letter from Santa (two options).

Local Post Office

Yes, most local post offices throughout Pickens, Gilmer, Fannin, Union, White, Dawson, Towns, and Lumpkin counties will accept mail addressed to Santa with a RETURN ADDRESS.  Please check with your local branch to make sure they are still accepting and for how long because often the site staff are the ones that return the letters.

United States Postal Office

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. And the Postal Service™ can help you prove it when Santa replies to your child’s letter to Santa — complete with the North Pole Postmark! The Letters from Santa program adds to the excitement of Christmas and is ideal for interesting youngsters in letter writing, stamps and penmanship.

Here's how:
Have the child write a letter to Santa and place it in an envelope addressed to: Santa Claus, North Pole.
  • Write a personalized response to the child's letter and sign it "From Santa."
  • Insert both letters into an envelope, and address it to the child.
  • Add the return address: SANTA, NORTH POLE, to the envelope.
  • Ensure a First-Class Mail stamp is affixed to the envelope.
  • Place the complete envelope into a larger envelope, with appropriate postage, and address it to:
NORTH POLE POSTMARK POSTMASTER
4141 POSTMARK DR
ANCHORAGE AK 99530-9998

Letters from Santa must be received by the Anchorage, AK, Postmaster no later than Dec. 15, 2015. Santa’s helpers in Anchorage, AK, will take care of the rest!

Be sure to share the experience on social media using #LettersFromSanta.

Tips:
To save paper, write on the back of your child’s letter. If you keep them together, your child will also be able to recall what he or she wrote.
When responding as Santa, make the response as personal as possible by highlighting your child’s accomplishments over the past year. For example, helping around the house, receiving good grades in a particular subject at school or participating in community service activities.
This is a great activity for Thanksgiving that the whole family can enjoy, including parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and other caregivers.
