Top Five Local Burgers in Our Backyard!!

By Lynne Westbrook May 19, 2016

This is America- do we really need a day to celebrate hamburgers? Apparently so- but with good reason. Americans eat almost 50 billion burgers a year – that’s the equivalent of three burgers a week for every person in the United States! We are lucky enough to have some of the best burgers here locally for us to enjoy in North Georgia!  National Burger Day is officially May 28th!

Although hamburgers originated in Hamburg, Germany, eating a burger on a bun is actually an American tradition. So- go out, go local and get your burger on!  Here are our top five (in no particular order and based on our opinion - if you have another one you would like to add onto the list please post in comments below article because we may have missed your favorite):

The Burger Bus- Ball Ground GA.  No kidding - the restaurant has a bus (once fully functional in the area) as an extended eating area.

Yonah Burger - Cleveland and Gainesville, GA.  Around since 1968 - great burgers and catfish!

River Street Tavern - Ellijay, GA. Creative burger options including specialty cheeses and vegetarian option.

Blue Ridge Brewery - Blue Ridge, GA.  From Kobe to black bean options - awesome!

The Varsity Jr.  - Dawsonville, GA.  Same burgers and dogs as the original - a staple for many a Georgian!
